Make sure to look for these when visiting Granada

Granada is a great place to visit if you're interested in history and culture. The city has a lot to offer, from its iconic landmarks to its delicious food. If you're thinking of visiting Granada, here are some things you should know.

Visit the Alhambra!

The Alhambra is a complex palace built by the Islamic Moors in Granada. You can visit the Alhambra by joining an excursion or through a guided tour. The best way to see the Alhambra is from its roof, as it was built on an open hillside, and there are stunning views from almost all angles inside. The architecture of the palace is not only beautiful enough to fascinate architecture buffs but also reflects the regional style of Spanish Muslim architecture at that time. When visiting Alhambra, you should purchase a combination ticket or individual entrance tickets for different areas of the palace; this will save you money and allow you to go back into each area repeatedly until your time limit is up. Granada Your Guide is right here to facilitate you through this journey!

The Sacromonte

Sacromonte is a maze of narrow streets and stepped courtyards in the old quarter of Granada. It is composed by dozens of traditional buildings, ormans (semi-erect buildings), plazas, narrow streets and houses that are close to collapse. Once home to the workers who built Alhambra, this Roma (gypsy) neighborhood hosts its current inhabitants in its pretty modern caves. It's also one of the most atmospheric neighbourhoods in all of Iberia. Whether you're visiting Sacromonte for a day or staying for a night, these are some of our favourite things to do and see: take part in flamenco dancing lessons wander through Sacromonte's many labyrinthine streets explore the surrounding countryside enjoy a glass or two of sangria check out the stunning white architecture of Sacromonte take a stroll along Sacromonte's famous cliff path

Try Tapas!

Granada is known for its generosity when it comes to tapas! Tapas are almost always served free with your drink, giving you the opportunity to enjoy Spanish flavors to the fullest without straining your wallet. An evening out in Granada is usually about a few drinks with friends, accompanied by delicious tapas bites.

The Mirador de San Nicolas

The Mirador de San Nicolas is one of the top highlights in Granada. It's a popular viewpoint above the Albayzín neighborhood, and it can be quite a hike from the center of town. The best time to visit is during sunset when you can see all of Granada, including the Alhambra Palace, in front of you.

Watch Flamenco

Flamenco is a type of music that has been around for centuries, but it was not until recently that it has become popular outside of Spain. It is a form of festive gypsy (Gitano) folk music that originated in Southern Spain. It’s possible to visit one of the Flamenco bars in Granada or Sacromonte caves and enjoy live performances by some of the best flamenco artists.

The Darro River

The Darro River, which flows from the mountains through Granada is an important part of Granada's history. With a little imagination you can still see traces of the old irrigation system that was used to take water from this river up to the gardens on top of the Alhambra (which are now covered with houses).

Plaza Nueva

Plaza Nueva is a beautiful square located in the heart of Granada. It is surrounded by many historical buildings, including the Cathedral of Granada and the Royal Chapel. Plaza Nueva is also a great place to people watch and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the city.

The Cathedral of Granada

The Cathedral of Granada is one of the most impressive and historic buildings in the city. Dating back to the early 16th century, the cathedral is a beautiful example of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Visitors can explore the interior of the cathedral, which is decorated with intricate mosaics and stained glass windows. The roof of the cathedral offers stunning views of the city, and the tower is a popular spot for visitors to take photos.
